ACLS Precourse Self-Assessment and Precourse Work
Online Classroom Instruction (OCI)

How Does OCI Work?

  • The ACLS Precourse Self-Assessment is an online tool that evaluates a student’s knowledge before the course to evaluate their proficiency and determine the need for additional review and practice in 3 sections: rhythm recognition, pharmacology, and practical application. The student must complete the Precourse Self-Assessment and achieve a score of at least 70% before attending the Skills Testing. 
  • The ACLS Precourse Work involves a student reviewing course content through online videos before attending AHA Instructor led Skills Testing. The video lessons cover multiple medical subjects and each lesson includes questions to engage the student. 

Things to know before taking OCI:

  • All students must complete the Precourse Self-Assessment and achieve a score of at least 70% before attending the AHA instructor-led ACLS Skills Testing..
  • Once a student has passed the Precourse Self-Assessment, they will gain access to the Precourse Work video lessons.
  • All video lessons must be reviewed before attending the Skills Testing.
  • Students must provide their successful Precourse Course Completion certificate.

Should you leave the course and need to return, you will need to select from the following options:

  • Retake – allows you to start over from the beginning (Clicking this will not retain any of your previous progress.)
  • Resume – allows you to pick up where you left off (If you have already completed the Precourse Self-Assessment and need to get back to your scoring report, please select this button)
  • Review – allows you to see what questions you got right and wrong after you have completed the Precourse Self-Assessment.

Steps to complete Online Course Instruction:

  1. Go to the link provided after completion of registration.
  2. Click on the Launch This Course button to start.
  3. Click on Start > to enter the Precourse section.
  4. Complete Precourse Self-Assessment.
  5. After completion of Precourse Self-Assessment you will be give access to the Precourse Work.
  6. After completion of both modules, print the Precourse Course Completion and CE/CME Certificate.
  7. Send Precourse Course Completion to https://tinyurl.com/3rn7m8y4.
  8. On receipt of the Precourse Completion Certificate your will be sent a link to the AHA ACLS online written exam. Complete the online ACLS written exam.
  9. After successful completion of the online written exam, we will send you contact information for local instructors in your area.
  10. Attend AHA instructor-led Skills Testing Session.

Continuing Education Hours

AMA Credit Designation Statement – Physicians The American Heart Association designates this live activity for a maximum of 3.0 AMA PRA Category 1 Credits™.  Physicians should claim only the credit commensurate with the extent of their participation in the activity.

AAPA Credit Acceptance Statement – Physician Assistants AAPA accepts certificates of participation for educational activities certified for AMA PRA Category 1 Credit™ from organizations accredited by ACCME or a recognized state medical society. Physician assistants may receive a maximum of 3.0 hours of Category I credit for completing this program.

AANP Credit Acceptance Statement – Nurse Practitioners American Academy of Nurse Practitioners (AANP) accepts AMA PRA Category 1 CreditTM from organizations accredited by the ACCME.

ANCC Credit Designation Statement – Nurses The maximum number of hours awarded for this CE activity is 3.0 contact hours

ACPE Credit Designation Statement – Pharmacists ACPE Credit: 3.0 Contact Hours.  Universal Program Number: JA0000134-0000-20-043-H04-P

Continuing Education Accreditation – Emergency Medical Services This continuing education activity is approved by the American Heart Association, an organization accredited by the Commission on Accreditation of Pre-Hospital Continuing Education (CAPCE), for 3.0 Advanced CEHs, activity number 20-AMHA-F3-0091.

PALS Precourse Self-Assessment and Precourse Work

The Pediatric Advanced Life Support PALS Precourse Self-Assessment evaluates a student’s knowledge before the AHA instructor-led skills testing to evaluate proficiency and determine the need for additional review and practice. 

The PALS Precourse Work involves a student reviewing course content through online videos before entering the classroom. The video lessons cover multiple medical subjects and each lesson includes questions to engage the student.
