What is PEARS

This course is designed as an intermediate course for
the credentialed healthcare provider
who infrequently see critically ill children. The name
of the course is descriptive of the course
purpose and is designed to enhance basic pediatric life
support knowledge to prepare the
learner to initiate and manage the first few minutes of
a pediatric arrest or prevent the arrest
of a pediatric victim at risk of severe cardiopulmonary
distress. Guidelines established by the
American Heart Association ™
will be utilized.
Target Audience
PEARS is for any healthcare provider who might encounter
pediatric patients in their
profession. It is not intended for those staff
credentialed for advanced pediatric skills that
routinely provide pediatric care. It is an intermediate
course to equip healthcare providers to

victim prior to an arrest, in an interactive
environment. Case studies and videos will be utilized to
provide opportunities to integrate
knowledge with practical skills.
