American Heart
Association™ PALS Provider Course
Course Information
The AHA PALS Provider Course was developed as a means of training healthcare
providers who may be required to resuscitate adults. It
focuses on recognition and initial care of unstable
pediatric patients, and it also provides training in the
management of pediatrics who have already suffered arrest.
The 2010 ECC Guidelines are covered in this PALS
course. The new student textbook that includes the
2010 ECC Guidelines is not scheduled to be released
until January-February 2012. We have other
2010 Guidelines compliant material on our
PALS Home Page.
Designed for healthcare professionals
who are interested in learning knowledge and
skills necessary to evaluate and manage a infant/child
who experiences a cardia arrest.
Each participant is expected to have
reviewed the information in the PALS Course Guide prior to the course.
PALS participants are
strongly encouraged to have a current Basic
Life Support card, or at least true proficiency in BLS when attending
our 1-day Provider/Renewal course, though this is not required to attend the class. Participants will be
required to demonstrate proficiency in BLS CPR and FBAO
skills repeatedly during the course.
Our 1-dayProvider/Renewal PALS course is for the first time or renewal
attendee who has experience in caring for the cardiac arrest
pediatric patient. Less time is
spent in the practice settings and more emphasis is placed on pre-course knowledge and
experience.
