Same courses available: CPR - ACLS - PALS, plus many more...

Does everyone accept this program?
There is no national, state, agency or board regulatory requirement to use any specific program. These programs are accepted as equivalent to AHA in all states. They also meet all the requirements for JCAHO, OSHA, Texas Department of Health, Homeland Security and many more.

Who uses HSI programs? (two examples of the 13 million HSI certified providers)
Banner Health is one of the largest nonprofit health care systems in the country, with 34,000 employees and more than 5,000 volunteers with 22 hospitals, six long-term care centers, and a variety of family clinics, home care services, and medical equipment facilities spread throughout Alaska, Arizona, California, Colorado, Nebraska, Nevada, and Wyoming.

Marin General Hospital and their 1,400 employees is the largest acute care hospital in Marin County, California, providing a full complement of acute care and ancillary services to the local community. Marin General uses ASHI’s Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS) for its critical care departments and CPR for the Professional Rescuer (CPR Pro) for its non-critical departments.

Where does the information come from?
The information used is the same information used by all resuscitation programs, including the American Heart Association. Everyone obtains the resuscitation recommendations from the International Liaison Committee on Resuscitation (ILCOR). The International Liaison Committee on Resuscitation (ILCOR) was formed in 1992 to provide a forum for liaison between principal resuscitation organizations worldwide.
The objectives of the ILCOR are to:

  • Provide a forum for discussion and for coordination of all aspects of cardiopulmonary and cerebral resuscitation worldwide.
  • Foster scientific research in areas of resuscitation where there is a lack of data or where there is controversy.
  • Disseminate information on training and education in resuscitation.
  • Provide a mechanism for collecting, reviewing and sharing international scientific data on resuscitation.
  • Produce statements on specific issues related to resuscitation that reflect international consensus.
